VNV trip to Helsingborg: new knowledge and contacts

As an international packaging specialist, it is crucial to gain and share new knowledge. That is why we always visit the annual Europe trip of the Association of Dutch Packaging Experts (VNV). This time we visited Sweden. Packaging technologist Rens van de Rakt summarizes the trip into five bite-sized chunks.

Oss - Helsingborg

“After a nice Father's Day breakfast, I left home early for Schiphol. Immediately there was a warm reunion with some fellow VNV members. After a short flight we arrive in ... Copenhagen. From there we continue our journey by train to Helsingborg (Sweden). We used the afternoon to discover the city. By bike of course, as a real Dutchie! ”

Exchange experiences

“If you are traveling with colleagues, the chats are mainly about work. I always find it super interesting to hear what other companies in our industry are doing. Moreover, by exchanging experiences, you will discover for yourself whether you can mean something for each other. Such conversations sometimes proves to be the base for intensive collaborations. "

Organic plastic and standing bags

“We visited two companies on Monday. In the morning we went to Gaia, a developer of biomaterials. They have discovered that you can make organic plastic with limestone and a number of additives. Its properties are better than PE and the material is completely biodegradable. After lunch we got a presentation at Ecolean, a liquid packer. They developed a machine to make standing pouches. The advantage of this is that they can be emptied completely and therefore prevent waste. The disadvantage is that they consist of several types of material. "

NFC sensors

“After a wonderful dinner and a good night rest, it was an early wake up the next morning again. A third company visit was scheduled. Beneli is a converter, specialized in smart and intelligent labels with NFC sensors. With this you can quickly see if a package has been opened, where it was made and who the producer is. And that is very valuable data for producers”.

Duty free zone

“At the end of the afternoon we checked out and took the train to Copenhagen. Together with my traveling companions, I took the time to view our products at the duty free zone. The airport staff must have thought, haha ... After a good flight and a short train ride I returned in Oss around midnight. A lot of knowledge and contacts richer! "
