“Vetipak truly lives up to its slogan”

Making the difference together. Vijf vragen, vijf antwoorden.

Vetipak and sustainability: what do you think about that?

“It’s the perfect match in every respect. First, Vetipak is innovative when it comes to circularity. Second, in its efforts to make the packaging industry more sustainable, the company thinks about the other links in the supply chain too. In addition, Vetipak opts for sustainable relationships with its partners, employees and everyone around them. As a municipality, we know this from experience.”

Is Vetipak a trailblazer in circularity?

“I think that the entire packaging industry in Oss is a trailblazer. Vetipak has a special role because the company makes very clear what it stands for. It uses its website to share contributions from experts, they share their own knowledge and they actively communicate their sustainability message. This creates a sustainability movement because other companies follow this example.”

But Vetipak isn’t a non-profit organization, is it?

“No, it’s not. But the company does take care to foster relationships. Vetipak doesn’t just say that it ‘makes the difference together’; they actually do it. Obviously I’m not in a position to evaluate the commercial side of things, but on the non-commercial side, the company certainly lives up to that slogan. It inspires its network and motivates others to become more sustainable.”

What does Vetipak mean to the municipality of Oss?

“Vetipak is important to us. It’s part of the whole local packaging industry, which is unique. Open up your kitchen cabinet or fridge and you’ll see that half of the packaging in there comes from this region. Our innovation can help raise this sector to an even higher level, which will benefit the local economy. Companies like Vetipak put a ‘face’ on the project and add lots of substance to it.”

How do you see your partnership developing in future?

“We’ll be working together more closely for the next three years due to the innovation program. A number of studies will be carried out in partnership with the HAS Hogeschool programs Food Innovation and Environmental Studies. And we’ll use the results to shape our policy. This means that we’ll be working together to boost this industry and to give sustainability, innovation and Oss a more prominent position on the map.”
